Netscape was founded, becoming one of the key pioneers in bringing the internet to the general public.
The company was co-founded by Marc Andreessen and others, and it developed Netscape Navigator, one of the earliest and most widely used web browsers. At the time, the internet was still largely limited to academic and technical communities, and accessing it required specialized knowledge.
Netscape Navigator changed that by introducing a graphical interface that made browsing the web far more accessible. Users could easily navigate websites, view images, and interact with content in ways that were previously difficult or impossible for non-experts.
The rapid adoption of Netscape’s browser helped accelerate the growth of the World Wide Web, leading to an explosion of websites, online services, and digital innovation.
